Alone Now
03:10
|
|||
he dreamed sweet dreams of steam machines
rolling down the avenue of his childhood days
he shed a tear for the ones not here
the ones who didn’t make it all the way
and he knows (it’s the last thing to do)
and he knows (no need for further proof)
and he knows (and I know)
he’s all alone now
he dreamed cruel dreams going to extremes
memories from his adolescent days
he threw a rose but it felt like prose
no poetry for those lost along the way
and he knows (it’s the last thing to do)
and he knows (no need for further proof)
and he knows (and I know)
he’s all alone now
he still tries to dream his little dreams
looking forward to see the sun
one day he thinks it will go away
but from some pains you just can’t run
and he knows
and he knows
and he knows
he’s all alone now
he just can’t run
and he knows (it’s the last thing to do)
and he knows (no need for further proof)
and he knows (and I know)
he’s all alone now

Confession
04:33
|
|||
I know you’re not a fool, but it worked for quite a while
you say that you can’t understand how you believed in all my lies
I know it wasn’t fair, I’m not proud of me today
But I’ve travelled down this road, the milk is spilled anyway
I don’t know what I was thinking, it’s too late
I can’t say I’m sorry, it would be fake
I can’t undo the things I’ve done, all I said and what went wrong
I’m standing here all accused, my alibi is of no use anymore
I know it’s much to late for me to try to explain
what I did was so wrong and I’m the only one to blame
I’ll sign my resignation, kind of my last will
will be cast into damnation after I have paid my bill
I don’t know what I was thinking, it’s too late
I can’t say I’m sorry, it would be fake
I can’t undo the things I’ve done, all I said and what went wrong
I’m standing here all accused, my alibi is of no use anymore
I don’t know what I was thinking
and I can’t say that I’m sorry
sorry
I can’t travel to the past and make undone
the things I’ve said and what went wrong
I can’t get off this train of racing thoughts
I missed the station long ago
now it’s to late for tell and show
I just can’t offer no excuse, my alibis are overused

Life
03:54
|
|||
when life seems to break down, the dawn fades away
I will look down on my creation to pray
and the silence that follows will be heard through the world
and the tears that will fall down will desperately turn into
life – a life that’s far away, walking through the day
when my mind is finally getting stronger
life – a life that’s gone astray, but I’ll guide you on the way
to the neverending plains of self-perception
when life seems to be lost and the sun is getting dark
I will follow the hidden path although it’s cruelly hard
and the silence of the world will be broken by a scream
and the word that will be called out will turn the painful dream into
life – a life that’s far away, walking through the day
when my mind is finally getting stronger
life – a life that’s gone astray, but I’ll guide you on the way
to the neverending plains of self-perception

Sunset Castle
03:59
|
|||
the sunset castle you’re building
will crumble to dust come dawn
the fortress of sand you believe in
will vanish, it’s powers withdrawn
your thoughts about being a hero
will bring you nothing but tears
and the ones who once have followed
will get back their life of former years
so sit down and guess if it’s worth it
consider the good and the bad
and watch your collapsing paradise
the might and the glory you had
the sunset castle you’ve been building
now crumbled to dust in the dawn
the fortress of sand you believed in
has vanished, futile to moan
sunset castle, sunset castle
crumbles to dust come dawn
sunset castle, your sunset castle
crumbles to dust come dawn

Last Scene
04:19
|
|||
when the sun is shining in winter times onto the snow covered hills that I see looking out of my window, I feel a certain chill
when I walk down the deserted streets
with no one there but my memories
coming to the house where it all began
when I look through the blinded windows
though I can’t see a lot, I know it still shows
the last scene of a play we shouldn’t have staged
if I were you I wouldn’t be so eager
to tell them things they already know
if I were you I’d go and try to live as I preach so that it shows
if I were you I wouldn’t go on talking
about the things I barely understand
if I were you I’d get some help to find out who I really am
I think of you and all the others
who lived through all the glory of ours
but in the end we couldn’t get what we wanted from it
when I think back to these exciting times
I’m still sure we could have gotten it right
but maybe it was just a play we shouldn’t have staged
if I were you I wouldn’t be so eager
to tell them things they already know
if I were you I’d go and try to live as I preach so that it shows
if I were you I wouldn’t go on talking
about the things I barely understand
if I were you I’d get some help to find out who I really am

Let Me Walk Alone
05:51
|
|||
I can see beyond time, I can step over this line
I won’t walk the narrow path you’ve laid for me
I can change my ways, I can breathe for days
I won’t starve from the moment you walk away from me
and try to understand I have to break free
I won’t stop at the gate, I’m keen to walk in
I will try this way no mattter how I’ve sinned
and I will go all the way
even if you let me walk alone
I can hear the call, I can break the wall
I won’t stop to live my life even if they tell me so
I can watch you fall, I can’t catch you all
but I’ll try to come again and soothe your bleeding wounds
try to understand I have to break free
I won’t stop at the door, I’m keen to see
I will try this out no mattter what will be
and I will go all the way
even if you let me walk alone

The Nine Days' Queen
04:46
|
|||
young and bright walking in dark times
through England’s east midlands
walking tall in times of war
you had to marry this man
he wanted you to be the queen
and reign throughout the land
lady jane grey, born on a sunday, destined to fall prey
she was called the nine day’s queen
they called her the nine day’s queen
the king had died, your husband lied
and you had to take the throne
you were only fifteen and the righteous queen
came back to hold her own
the verdict was cruel, but then overruled
but your death was just postponed
lady jane grey, born on a sunday, destined to fall prey
she was called the nine day’s queen
they called her the nine day’s queen
you did not convert to her religion
the risk of you living was high
the rebellion was broken, the charges outspoken
the way to the scaffold so nigh
have mercy you said, the tears I’ve shed
you prayed with just a sigh
lady jane grey, born on a sunday, destined to fall prey
she was called the nine day’s queen
they called her the nine day’s queen

sometimes I feel like satan, sometimes I am the lamb
sometimes I am mistaken, sometimes I try to sham
sometimes it feels like autumn, sometimes like going down
sometimes I think that’s wrinkles in my face and not just frowns
I’m losing sight of the coast, I’ll find a new continent
or a country at most, a lost culture in the end
I’m boarding this ship at this missionary post
we’re all fully equipped for losing sight of the coast
sometimes I feel like going, sometimes I sit and stare
sometimes my face is showing what to say I’d never dare
sometimes I despise the people, sometimes I’m full of love
sometimes I’m sitting on the steeple, sometimes I wear no glove
I’m losing sight of the coast, I’ll find a new continent
or a country at most, a lost culture in the end
I’m boarding this ship at this missionary post
we’re all fully equipped for losing sight of the coast

Thoughts/Shoot The Sky
03:56
|
|||
in the sitting room, watching the steam
counting the seconds until they fade away
your kindness, my darkness, from norfolk into the world
endless laughter from your mouth
one decade later coming back
just like Crusoe, no traces left
somewhere in the garden hopeless cases lie
murmurs from behind, notes are taken
the noise from above, like distant thunder
what could you say when no one listens
what could you show when no one looks
it seldom matters, the parade went by
but the knight turns round, maybe bleeding
but I know it’s not real, but I know it’s all show
but I know that I’m not sure, but I know...
don’t shoot the sky where the clouds are born
don’t aim at the heavens where the angels may roam
don’t make me cry, don’t you talk about love while looking like this

the autumn mist covers the meadows like a beautiful veil
the sun breaking through, painting yellow flowers on lines of grey
the grass is wet, manna from heaven on dark green blades
leafs are falling, floating to the ground, deep orange shades
as I walk beneath the trees past the mumbling river
I breathe in cold air
it’s a morning like this when I can loose myself
just being there
in the amber sky birds are winging towards their home
clouds in the distance tell already of coming snow
the world gets slower in the autumn air, the land takes a rest
the sun gets colder covered by clouds, holding her breath
as I walk beneath the trees past the mumbling river
I breathe in cold air
it’s a morning like this when I can loose myself
just being there
I’ll leave some footprints for some days
until the rain will wash them away, the wind will blow them away

Owes You Nothing
03:36
|
|||
I hear your words, complaining about your life
you say that you’re not really free and blame society
for all your bad days and your misery
but listen closely now and think about
you say you never get a free ride, you never have some luck
but you still drive the latest car, still think all others suck
you plead you have to get a living from all the world
but the world owes you nothing, the world was here first
I see you lying in distress, burden all the others with your jumpiness
you say you are a caring man, but in reality you never give a damn
about the others’ bad days and their misery
but listen closely now and think about
you say you never get a free ride, you never have some luck
but you still drive the latest car, still think all others suck
you plead you have to get a living from all the world
but the world owes you nothing, the world was here first

Wisdom And Failure
04:13
|
|||
try to follow one of the two girls
they are called Wisdom and Failure
no one ever could please them both
no on ever could escape them though
try to follow one of the two paths until you reach the end
they lead to strange places you’ve never been before
curses flare through the mists of the forest
sounding like guns shooting a salute to a long forgotten leader
he died in the attempt to unite the divided egos
and so the egos went on to fight for some more decades
he died in the attempt to get some peace of mind
so he walked out of the circle and stepped into the next
try to follow one of the two girls
they are called Wisdom and Failure
no one ever could please them both
no on ever could escape them though
like the lizard king once left this world
or at least his past existence
the riders on the storm made no big deal about it
gone – forever
